Mavis Staples

Last updated: '01 Added '97

What is Soul? Whatever it is, during the more than forty years that Mavis Staples has been the lead vocalist in her family group the Staple Singers, she has proved that she has plenty of it. The pages feature an extensive interview with the lady, plus a run-down of Mavis's solo album discography.

Sandra St. Victor

Last updated: '01 Added: '97

Singer, songwriter and producer Sandra St.Victor's been called "a funkadelified Chaka Khan", but in my book, there are no fitting comparisons to draw between this Diva and other songstresses. Sandra St.Victor is simply Sandra St.Victor, a red-hot mama, playing in a league of her own. With her stunning "Mack Diva Saves The World" album, Sandra has brought back the heart and sincerity in Soul music. Page features a bio, discography, a news section and an in-depth interview.

Jeanie Tracy

Last updated: '98 Added: '96

Singer, songwriter and actress Jeanie Tracy's name may not instantly ring a bell, but you've heard that BIG voice for sure. Patti LaBelle and Aretha Franklin has called her "one of the top ten voices in the world" and Chaka Khan was heard uttering "how the f*@ing hell do you expect me to follow that!" during a rehearsal for a show the two did together. Jeanie toured and recorded with the late Sylvester during the heydays of Disco and today, she is one of America's most sought after session singers. To the joy of her fans, she occasionally finds the time to drop a record of her own as well.

Talk Turkey

Last updated: '97 Added: '97

According to the book "Slang American Style" by Richard Spears, to talk turkey means to talk serious business, to talk frankly. What a fitting name for this mish-mash collection of quotes that I've gathered during my nearly ten years of interviewing, I thought. Here you'll find everything from funny stories and anecdotes to revelations.
